For Immediate Release
February 2, 2007
At the KAQHA annual meeting in December 2005, the regular membership of the Kentucky Amateur Quarter Horse Association voted to take the reins from KyQHA and mastermind the Novice Show Program for 2006.
The All-Novice Show format was developed by AQHA to provide an entry-level opportunity for American Quarter Horse owners to exhibit in an AQHA-approved event. A hallmark of the Novice Show program is that they offer not only opportunities to exhibit in a lower-stress environment, but they typically offer educational opportunities as well. In the past, KyQHA has hosted some of the nation's largest All-Novice events complete with educational clinics offered by Professional Horsemen and Industry Leaders.
Carrying on that tradition, the Amateur Association immediately began working on the 2006 Novice Show Opportunities. Some of the All-Novice Opportunities which are in the works include a show is being coordinated with the Grant County Fair Western Horse Show on August 3rd, 2006. This would be an AQHA-approved all Novice Show formatted into the existing fair show complete with money-added Western Pleasure and Hunter Under Saddle classes. Another Novice Show event is being planned which may incorporate educational speakers/clinics and a multi-day event in Sturgis, Kentucky on September 9th & 10th.
Stay tuned for more information on these and all KyQHA-Approved events upcoming this year. For information on how you can become involved (volunteers are the future of KAQHA!), please contact Khris Fields, Co-Chair KyQHA Novice Show Committee at (859) 380-8944 or www.fieldshorses.com.
